a very traditional Brao woman

I say “very” traditional not because of her facial tattoos ore elongated earlobes (the longer they hang down, the better chances a young woman has of marrying a man with more possessions such as pigs and water buffalo), but because at age 90+ she still drinks rice wine (see the jug on the left with long bamboo straws sticking out of it?) with the best of them and still smokes home-grown tobacco in thickly rolled plant leaves. I give her age as 90+ because people from her time calculate their age according to how many new fields (chamcars) have been cleared in the forest to make way for agriculture, a process that begins every 15 years. So, this lovely lady -who I hope to see again when I return to Ratanakiri in a few weeks- is something like 6.2 chamcars old.
