Virachey National Park is now offering a brand new trek in Voen Sai district to the sacred Mera Mountain and the surrounding Yak Yeuk Grasslands. The trek begins in Koun Nouk Village close to the town of Voen Sai in Ratanakiri. This traditional village is located on the O Lai Lai River, a tributary to the Sesan River. One VNP ranger and Kavet porters will take you on rugged and thrilling trek to an area of Southeast Asia seldom visited by outsiders. You can read birder Howie Nielsen’s account of our trip there in 2013 to asses avi-fauna.
